Hello! My name is Tim Schmidt and I am the morning meteorologist at the NBC affiliate KOMU - TV8 in Columbia, Missouri. I have been in TV broadcast for nearly ten years.
I began as a weather intern working weekends at KOMU in 2013 while attending the University of Missouri. Eventually, I was promoted to Morning Meteorologist in the summer of 2015.
I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors of Science in Soils, Environmental & Atmospheric Science and am a proud member of the
National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society.
I grew up in St Louis as a Cardinals fan and am accustomed to the hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters of Missouri. Weather has been my passion since I was a little kid and still continues to excite me every day! I love talking, writing and learning more about the science.
Working in local TV broadcast has allowed me to many great things, including storm chase and become more involved within my community. I've enjoyed working with many organizations throughout my career, including Special Olympics of Missouri.
My favorite experience while working in television was covering the
Great American Eclipse in 2018.
